Brett Larson has an unbelievable track record
when it comes to attracting viewers whether it's in television, radio or print. He has a winning combination of good looks,
charisma and intelligence that have served him very well in his career.
Audiences love him not only for bringing the often confusing world of new high-tech gadgets and computers to a level they can easily understand, but for how he does just that. Instead of simply talking about the products, Brett takes them all for test-runs out in the field. From cell phones and PDA's, to digital cameras and universal remote controls, he's tested them all. He then gives audiences buying advice and valuable insight into the complicated world of consumer electronics.
Brett is currently doing all this and more for Fox 5, WNYW-TV in New York. As their technology and enviromental reporter, he shows the viewers on Fox 5's programs the latest and greatest electronic gadgets, best websites, how to protect your computer from viruses and so much more. Most importantly, he does it in a way that is fresh, fun and entertaining.
He has written and hosted 5 primetime 30 minute specials that have aired on WCBS and other CBS owned stations. WCBS also turned to Brett to cover breaking news in the electronic/science fields. This gave him a chance to break out of the "feature" type mold and do some more in-depth reporting. He's filed reports on such topics as solar flares, custom stamps and computer viruses. His story on the anniversary of the television earned him an Emmy. Always one to have his hands in as many pies as possible, you can also hear Brett on New York City's 1010 WINS radio station doing tech reports and as the face of content site about.com's technical "channel."
Brett joined WCBS from Tech TV in San Francisco. In addition to being the "gadget guru", co-hosting "Fresh Gear," the network's gadget show, he was the co-host of "Call for Help," a call-in program. He was also a fill-in anchor for their news program, "Tech Live." All of this experience made him valuable in Satellite Media tours, where his insight and information on consumer gear can quickly become part of morning radio and television programs. His last media tour, "High Tech Gear for Dads and Grads" had over 4.5 million viewers.
Brett began his career in radio, where he worked overnights in Reno, NV. His personality and creativity brought the overnight slot to the #1 position for all of northern Nevada, beating out syndicated overnight show "Art Bell." In less than 6 months, he was hired in San Francisco doing weekend overnights. A month later he was moved to the primetime weekend position where he took the ratings to #1 where they stayed for 2 years. From there, every move Brett made in radio brought top 5 ratings with him.
In 1999, Brett moved into the world of print to be an assistant editor for Macworld Magazine. He wrote a weekly column which was the highest read page on the magazine's website, second only to the homepage. His work in print is what actually brought him to the world of television. TechTV had originally tapped him for weekly appearances on their live call-in show, but they soon realized they needed to hire this talented gem. We're sure you'll feel the same.
